Home is Where it has Always Been

Fascinated by the rugged Montana landscape and the harsh lifestyle that farming entails, Matty-Huber has spent the past year documenting one elderly cattle rancher. John Hoiland’s family came to Montana in 1906, working a vast 940 acres of land, son succeeding father.

John has spent his entire life on the farm. When his parents died, he added their chores to his, working the land alone. Now nearly 90 years old, John is one of the last of his kind.
